The Core Story Engine

Drawing Fundamentals

Most artists don’t struggle because they lack talent.

They struggle because they:

  • Don’t understand 3D space

  • Rely too heavily on reference

  • Get stuck doing drills without knowing how to apply them

  • Burn out before making art they actually care about

Sketchflix Foundations fixes that.

This is a complete drawing fundamentals course that teaches you how to see and think in 3D — and immediately use those skills to create characters, environments, and visual stories.

  • Absolutely. This course is designed as a solid entry point into drawing fundamentals and works perfectly for beginners.

If you already have some experience with basics like perspective or simple forms, you may choose to skim or skip the early lessons and jump ahead—but nothing is wasted. The foundation work helps lock in consistency and confidence.

  • No—you don’t have to use a digital device to take this course. You’re welcome to work traditionally if that’s what you have access to.

That said, this course works best when you limit or avoid the undo button. Using traditional tools—or choosing not to rely on undo while working digitally—encourages confident mark-making, better decision-making, and stronger drawing instincts.

The goal is to train your eye and hand to work together with intention, not perfection. Mistakes are part of the process, and learning to commit to your lines will improve your drawings faster than endlessly correcting them.
